What changed in each version of Lobster Browser, newest first. Every version number names one build; nothing is ever republished under a number that has already shipped.

2.1.11The launcher updates itself

  • When a newer version is out, a small icon appears at the top right. Click it, see the current and the new version, confirm — and the whole app updates and comes back on its own.
  • Folders live in the sidebar under Profiles, with their counts; nothing sits above the profile table any more.
  • A profile’s title stays put while its data is downloading.
  • Release notes are on the website, and the landing page shows the launcher as it is now.

2.1.10Sync that leaves you alone, and one device on every computer

  • Syncing no longer sets itself off in a loop: each machine recognises its own changes, and a profile your account is already ahead of sends only its own row.
  • Your profile’s device is decided once, on its first launch, and every other computer reproduces exactly that device instead of inventing its own.
  • A download that fails now waits and tries again rather than retrying straight into the same failure.
  • Every launcher failure is a sentence you can act on, in place of a code.
  • Lobee reads back what it typed, reports how far a scroll actually got, and keeps the answer it found instead of redacting it away.
  • Each profile seed gets its own set of fonts.

2.1.9A plainer launcher

  • No backdrop behind any launcher page — the content sits on a plain surface.
  • Larger type throughout, and the content column uses the width of the window.
  • The installer keeps its wallpapers.

2.1.8The site, the account menu, and an operator view

  • A new section on the website showing the real launcher on a desktop and a phone.
  • Opening the account menu no longer blanks the billing page underneath it.
  • Credit history is gone from billing: the balance and the packages are what the page shows.
  • An operator dashboard — finance and action tracking — for the people who run the service.

2.1.7One row per profile

  • A profile has exactly one row on your account; a race could previously leave a twin marked “(imported)”.
  • Snapshots carry only the core browsing data, so they upload and restore faster.
  • Windows gets theme wallpapers, one per page and per installer state, chosen per page in Settings.

  • Password, extensions, template, policy, proxy and notes now reach every machine along with the profile.
  • Picture backdrops across the whole window.
  • Error messages dismiss themselves after ten seconds instead of waiting for a click.
  • The installer gets its own icon, and a file name differing only in case no longer collides.

  • A restore no longer fails on a machine that already has its own site preferences.
  • Collections stop ping-ponging back and forth between two machines.

2.1.4Windows cookies, and paths Windows called too long

  • Windows cookies were never being captured, so a profile restored elsewhere arrived signed out of everything. They are captured now.
  • A long path inside a profile no longer kills the restore it appears in.
  • The ad blocker ships inside the build instead of being fetched on first use.
  • Round four of the launcher’s interface work.

2.1.3Block ads works again

  • Block ads pins the ad blocker rather than forcing it in.
  • The browser no longer refuses our own extension as “blocked by the administrator”.

2.1.2An extension that will not download is not a blocker

  • A profile opens even when one of its extensions cannot be downloaded.
  • The extension is skipped and the rest of the profile starts as usual.

  • Close a profile that is open on another machine, from the machine you are sitting at.
  • A fresh machine shows your profiles straight away, before anything is downloaded.
  • Changes appear on your other machines as they happen, with no refresh.
  • A deleted profile goes to the trash on your account and is kept there for seven days.
  • The Windows installer gets a Ready screen stating exactly what it is about to install.

  • Windows installs from our own one-window installer, which carries everything and downloads nothing.
  • The web installer is discontinued on Windows; Linux keeps both packages.
  • One managed model for the agent, with no model picker to get wrong.
  • Light is $18 a month.
  • Autopilot programs and real-time control for Lobee.

2.0.9One profile, one machine at a time

  • A profile can only be open in one place: every start takes the lease, and every stop uploads what changed.
  • Block ads arrives as a profile policy.
  • Opaque surfaces in the Windows dark theme, instead of panels you could read through.
  • Profile files are now “.lob”, and an imported copy no longer hijacks the original’s account row.

2.0.8Fluent, and only Fluent

  • The old design system and about five thousand lines of styling are gone.
  • The launcher is always violet; a Windows accent colour no longer bleeds into it.
  • The profile editor moves onto a side drawer.
  • The free plan is one profile, and Lobee is included from Light upwards.

2.0.7The Fluent 2 rebuild

  • A rebuilt launcher: title bar, navigation pane, page header, status bar, account footer and command palette.
  • Lobee’s panel moves onto the same design language.
  • The findings of the interface audit are fixed.
